It's a larger change to GvG than I expected. Should spur a bit of interest. I presume we will know in quite soon if it works well.

and that is great!
I am bored of watching 20min fight at a flag stand,this will be funny.
Even low ranked guys can beat high ranked if they are better at movement!!

Couldnt have said it better myself, and if nothing else its a change to gvg and will keep me busy at least for another 2 months before i get bored of a stale meta again.

and you know what.. i kinda like it. its putting a lot of new horizons on the field, sort of like early Factions gvg. we'll have to see what happens when actual good gvg matches start, and we start seeing the new skills in use.

I don't see much reason for splitting tho. The only reason to split is if you want the 28 minutes tiebreaker to start in your favor before 'VoD'. A defensive team's job suddenly got a lot easier. Instead of having to save all npcs they just need to save their lord. And if you can win the 8vs8 fight that will happen sooner or later, you still win, even if you suck at movement.

What I expect is much of the same we have had the last months. Playing defensive still wins you games, as long as you are good at it. There will be guilds abusing the tiebreaker of course, mostly with skills like Spoil Victor to quickly deal lots of damage. One Cyclone Axe with your whole team around him and you just won the game if the other team didn't bring it. Also keeping their lord from hitting your lord will get more important.
A few guilds might run a pressure build, but I doubt we will see much success there. There just aren't any effective ways to pressure in my opinion. The clumsiness mesmers will probably get dropped now you no longer have to farm archers. So one thing for sure, we will see a different teambuild. My bet is on P, N (Spoil Victor), Me (domination)

Maybe I misread what you said DutchSmurf (forgive me if I did), but how are defensive teams going to win? Unless if they can kill the enemy lord (note: No more damage bonus and healing loss), saving their lord won't do shit, since that will just give the enemy more health to burn through, which WILL provide them with the 28 minute win. I probably missed your point though since it's 5 in the morning and I'm tired as hell.

Note, it says DAMAGE at 28 minutes. Is this RAW minus health numbers (ie: does lifesteal count), or is it literally DAMAGE (ie: lifesteal doesn't count?)

As far as I know, the lord still walks to the flagstand at 20 minutes. Gives you about 6 minutes to abuse 'VoD' and put more damage on him then they can put on your lord. A good defensive build should have no problems limiting the damage their lord takes. And then use 2-3 characters to maximize your damage output.

Well people will just take flagstand spikes, if you face a split you can camp til VoD and spike them down for 8 minutes, you dont need pressure or split ability you just need a eurospike style build that can spike people down faster than they can boost which is what rawr did before the recent super VoD tanking builds.

Also they kinda killed the GvG ranger with this update, you can use rangers for spreading conditions but you no longer have the dynamic play that a ranger offered since NPC's count for nothing.

There needs to be some sort of indication of which team has done more damage to the GL, i dont no if there already is one as i wil not be gvging until this evening.

I see a lot of theorycrafters here. Stop that. Ok, of course there will be overpowered crap because of the way of assassins buff and so on .. however, GvG is still about movement.

When I saw the update first, I thought "What the hell is Izzy doing? He ruined GvG!". But I played a couples of gvg and I have to say I kinda like it. We faced some overpowered 8on8 crap (ok, they used heroes, but the build included heavy spikedamage). Druids. We met on the flagstand. 2 minutes later we were in our base, one melee on 30, one monk on 30, 3 other guys on 15. 7 guys resigned. Then we just started to run around like hell. Kicked their npcs, got a morale boost and collapsed them if they did tactical mistakes. Finally we wiped them in 8on8 because they had so much dp. We won a lost game, even though everyone was like "uuuh, splits are dead - and gvg is dead too QQ".

I would say you have more possibilities to react on 8on8 crap. Of course, if they play smart it's getting hard, but nothing is impossible.
The biggest change in the way of splitting will be, that there wont be single splits (ranger e.g.). There will splitt 2 melees + runner or other offensive chars. And that's funnier.
